We were teachers in the same school, which I must say is an excellent way to meet a smart interesting mate that also shares your long vacations. Long story is that she was a 3rd grade teacher and I was moving into 3rd, and so she was asked to buddy up with me. I wonder whether the principal at the time was kind of playing match maker. (It didn't occur to me at the time because we all hated that principal.)
